President Trump’s Platinum Plan for Black America, KKK and ANTIFA Designated Terrorist Organizations
President Donald Trump at an event held in Georgia on Friday, September 25th, came forward to “announce a brand new plan to deliver more opportunity, more security, more fairness, and more prosperity to black communities (1)” in what he has called the Platinum Plan. What does the Platinum plan entail, and what does the President hope to achieve through the plan?
Some of the main highlights of the President’s Platinum Plan is to increase access to capital in black communities by almost $500 Billion, help to bring around 3 million new jobs for the black community, and creating 500,000 new black owned businesses (2). Although full of good intentions, it has not yet been discussed where the $500 billion for something like this will come from.
The plan also dives into community and Policing standards looking to introduce things such as diversity training and accreditation standards for law enforcement, better second chance hiring for rehabilitated citizens with a criminal record through the implementation of a Second Step Act after the success of the First Step Act, and increasing the use of drug rehabilitation rather than drug incarceration (3) alongside working with cities and counties to address mental illness and substance abuse (4). The President also looks to make Juneteenth (a day celebrating the end of slavery in the United States) a national holiday (5)
President Trump in his Platinum Plan also looks to designate the Ku Klux Klan (KKK) and ANTIFA as terrorist organizations, and wants to make lynchings a national hate crime (6).
When it comes to education the plan looks to protect historically black Universities and Colleges, apply better apprenticeship and job training programs, and the ability for, “full school choice and education opportunity to put American parents back in control over their children’s futures” (7).
While it is wonderful to see such a plan being looked at by President Trump, this is only something that will be looked at further if a second term is won. It can not also be forgotten that it has not been said where the funds will come from to pay for this Platinum Plan.
